On August 14th, 2015, bbgb tales for kids bookstore in Carytown, (Richmond, VA) hosted its first Open Mic Night for the community, along with Art180 and Richmond Young Writers, two local youth focused organizations. Enjoy hearing some excerpts from each young writer, and a few interview clips!
I learned that writing stories are really fun and that if you go a little deeper inside your brain, you can get a lot down.
I learned that I have more ideas locked up in my head than I thought.
I learned to explore my mind.
I learned that if I put my mind to something, I can write about it.
I learned that writers can become anything they really want.
I discovered that I can try styles of writing that I am not necessarily comfortable with and add my new perspective to my writing.
I learned that if I sit down and write with no limits that I can surprise myself in the best of ways.
