The focus of the Giant Squid program will be on digging deep, thinking deep, and transforming our brightest, most revelatory ideas into refined written work. In order to participate, you should already love to write and do it often, just for fun (even if you don’t think you’re good at it); it’s not a beginner-level class, though students who have never had a creative writing class are welcome if they are already writing on their own.
Work worthy of writing contests, high school/college applications and high-level workshop discussion will be produced, though that is not the main goal at Giant Squid. We’re after something much more important: a lifelong love for and dedication to writing. Giant Squid students will crack open the little details of their everyday lives and study them, see them in a new light, find the magic within.
