TEEN WRITERS WORKSHOP: VMFA
This eight-week workshop at VMFA will introduce young writers to a variety of stimulating creative-writing exercises designed to stir the imagination. Participants will also explore the works in the African Art galleries, using them as springboards for stories, poetry, fiction, and creative journaling. Individual and group in-class writing exercises will yield a packed portfolio of ideas and inspiration.
Featured workshops include "Storytelling" with professional storyteller, Denise Bennett; and “Zine Making” with Richmond Zine Fest organizer, Liz Canfield. Students will create a group zine and be invited to read their work at the VMFA Teen Talent Event in the spring.
