Session 1: Radical Writers

6 Sessions at the Visual Arts Center
1812 West Main Street
Mondays, September 27- November 1
4 - 6 pm
Ages 9-13
Cost: $100 for members, $110 for non-members
Materials: Bring your own journal and pen if you'd like, or we will provide them for you.

Expect the unexpected! In this class, we will experiment with fiction, creative journaling and poetry with a special "Surrealism" workshop presented by Mike Dulin,Style Weekly art critic and director of the surrealist theatre group,PunkSinatra. We will write individually and as a group, exploring both the craft and fun of creative writing through a series of exercises designed to stimulate the imagination and blast through writer's block. The class will culminate in a reading of student works in progress from 5:30-6 pm on November 1.



Session 2: What's Your Story?

6 Sessions at the Visual Arts Center

Mondays, November 8- December 13
4 -6 pm
Ages: Teens
Cost: $100 for members, $110 for non-members
Materials: Bring your own journal and pen if you'd like, or we will provide them for you.

This creative writing class will explore personal and universal stories through a variety of stimulating prompts, featuring a special fiction workshop with Michele Young Stone, author of "The Handbook for Lightning Strike Survivors" and the 2010 recipient of the Theresa Pollack Emerging Artist Award. We will write individually and as a group, creating a portfolio of fiction, creative nonfiction, magical realism and poetry. The class will culminate in a reading of student works in progress from 5:30 pm - 6 pm on December 13.
